Unification Background

In September of 2010, the memberships of five of the organizations currently serving youth hockey in Fargo voted on a resolution proposal to consolidate business operations and hockey programming under one umbrella organization. Three of the memberships voted to approve the resolution and merge operations effective for the 2011-12 hockey season. The three organizations joining together are Fargo All City Youth Hockey (FACYH), Fargo Raiders, and Fargo Flyers. The consolidation proposal presented to our memberships last fall is considered the guiding document as we form the new organization.
A Nominating Committee was formed and tasked with creating a process to solicit applications, evaluate candidates, and appoint a board of directors for the new organization. After the appointment of the new directors, the Nominating Committee members agreed to remain active and assist the new board members during the transition phase. Committees have been formed to develop recommendations and facilitate the initial tasks that are essential for a successful merger. The board of directors of each of the current organizations (FACYH, Flyers, and Raiders) will remain in place until May 31, 2011. On June 1, 2011 the newly revised Bylaws of FYHA will become effective and the newly appointed board of directors will assume responsibilities for the new Fargo Youth Hockey Association.
