The First Shift 2024-FYHA Intro to Hockey
NO EQUIPMENT NO EXPERIENCE NO PROBLEM
THE FUN STARTS HERE
The First Shift is designed to help kids fall in love with hockey. The focus is on fun while teaching basic hockey skills and educating families on the importance of properly fitted equipment. No previous skating experience necessary!
ELIGIBILITY:
- Boys & Girls ages 4 to 8 years old in Pre-K through 3rd grade. Must be born before May 31, 2020.
- Players previously registered in First Shift or FYHA Winter Hockey are not eligible. You may not register for First Shift twice.
- Eligibility for the Freeze First Shift is limited to children who attend, or plan to attend, a Fargo Public School.
Here are links to other programs if your child does not attend a Fargo Public School, or does not plan on attending a FPS.
COST INCLUDES:
- Fitting Session hosted by Fargo Freeze Hockey
- Head to Toe BAUER Equipment including helmet, skates, shin guards, socks, pants, gloves, jock/jill short, chest protector and shoulder pads, neckguard, stick, and a First Shift jersey
- Four learning to skate and play hockey on ice sessions with FYHA Coaches, high school, Freeze, and Fargo Force athletes
- Four tickets to a Fargo Force hockey game October 18th

EQUIPMENT POLICY:
If your child chooses to continue hockey through the winter season, you may keep all of the First Shift equipment and register for the 2024-25 FYHA winter hockey season at FargoHockey.org
If your child is not interested in continuing with winter hockey, please return the First Shift gear after the final session to give another child a chance to try hockey. All participants get to keep their jersey & stick.

NDAHA Participation Rule For Fargo/West Fargo Metro Area
THIS RULE APPLIES TO PLAYERS WHO:
- MOVE INTO THE FM AREA FOR 2024-25 SEASON
- BEGIN PLAYING HOCKEY IN 2024-25
- CHANGE SCHOOLS FOR 2024-25 SEASON
IF YOU HAVE A GIRL WHO WANTS TO PLAY GIRLS-ONLY AND ATTENDS A CHRISTIAN SCHOOL, AND YOU LIVE IN FARGO, YOU CAN REGISTER WITH THE FREEZE AS THE ANGELS DO NOT HAVE A GIRLS-ONLY PROGRAM AT THIS POINT.

THE FARGO FREEZE CANNOT ANSWER SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT, OR OTHERWISE INTERPRET, THIS NDAHA RULE.

Players must register with the association where the player attends school as the player’s “School of Attendance”.
- IE: if you attend West Fargo Public Schools you must register with West Fargo Hockey Association; if you attend Fargo Public Schools you must register with Fargo Youth Hockey Association; if you attend a Christian School you must register with Angels Hockey Association
Class of play is NOT considered a reason to change the association of registration.
Violation of the above participation rule(s) may include, but is not limited to, one year/season suspension.
