The Fargo Freeze 16U earned a trip to their second consecutive Championship Final at the Junior Gold 16U tournament Dec 31-Jan 2, 2022 in Moorhead, MN. The Freeze had a slow start with a 4-0 loss to host Moorhead, but stormed back with dominant wins of 8-1 vs. Hastings 16U and 7-2 vs. Osseo-Maple Grove 16U. This set up the Championship final vs. undefeated Rosemount 16U. In a thriller back-and forth game the score was 5-4 Rosemount with 2 minutes remaining. The Freeze pulled the goalie with a faceoff in Rosemount’s zone, won the draw and with a perfect tic-tac-toe play got the shot they wanted, but the shot deflected just wide of the net. With 11-seconds remaining Rosemount closed with an empty netter to for a 6-4 final. Although 2nd place, another great finish for Fargo Freeze 16U’s!
