Two players from the 2021-22 Fargo Freeze 18U team recently returned from the USA Hockey America’s Showcase Tournament (https://www.americasshowcasestlouis.com) held in St. Louis April 21-25, 2022. Kaden Davidson and Keegan Hanson were selected to represent Team North Dakota. Team North Dakota is comprised of the top High School players from the State who play within the North Dakota Amateur Hockey Association.

The America’s Showcase Tournament was founded in 1985 to provide the nation’s premier high school players an opportunity to be scouted by high-level programs so those players may further their hockey careers in prep school, juniors, college, and beyond. The tournament is scouted by more than 70 Junior A, NCAA and ACHA programs from across the country.

Keegan Hanson, a Junior, transitioned to play defense this season and had a standout year with the Freeze 18U. As a part of a solid defensive corps, he helped Team North Dakota finish the round robin with a stingy 2.67 GAA. Keegan will be eligible to be selected for Team North Dakota again next season.

Kaden Davidson, a Senior forward, also had a solid tournament. After leading the Freeze 18U’s with 25 goals in 15 games of league play during the season, Kaden maintained his scoring touch by leading Team North Dakota with 5 goals in 4 games at the Showcase Tournament. A great way to wrap up his Senior season and High School career.

Team North Dakota had a strong showing in the 16-team boys division earning a spot In the quarter finals before getting knocked out by vs. eventual tournament winner, Team Illinois in a hard fought 7-2 loss. A moral victory, North Dakota played Team Illinois to its closest game of the tournament. An impressive showing for our boys from North Dakota.

Fargo Freeze High School Boys Director, Colin Clarke, described the opportunity that the USA Hockey America’s Showcase tournament represents: “For our kids who do not play NDHSAA High School Hockey in North Dakota, being selected to the Showcase team is an outstanding opportunity that many are unaware of. Our Fargo kids get a chance to play in front of scouts from across the country. We’ve had several of our Freeze 18U players move on to Jr. A and ACHA programs following their selection to Team North Dakota. We’re proud to see Keegan and Kaden selected from our program this season. It’s exciting to see them have the opportunity to play at the USA Hockey Showcase tournament.”
