Honor comes weeks after helping Minot State capture ACHA Division I Title

Hockey has taken former Freeze and Davies High School player Jay Buchholz all over the country, and now it will provide him an international opportunity.

Buchholz, who less than a month ago helped Minot State capture the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I national championship, will travel next week to Romania to represent the United State in the World Cup of University Hockey.

The event features two teams from the ACHA -- a U.S. team and a Canadian team. They will face off against teams from six European countries made up of players from the European University Hockey Association.

Buchholz is a 2018 Davies graduate who played Juniors in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, the United States Hockey League and the North American Hockey League before enrolling at Minot State.  This past year he was the Beavers' third-leading scorer with 14 goals and 25 assists as a sophomore.
