It is with great sadness that we are telling you of the passing of Mike Hartel. There was no bigger champion of youth hockey than Mike and he will be missed.
Mike served many roles over the years, most recently as FYHA’s treasurer and our lead liason with the Fargo Park District, NDAHA and the Metro Sports Foundation.
Many of us first met Mike at the Intro to Hockey camp. He wanted to give every kid the opportunity to play hockey. Over the camp’s eight year history, he personally spoke with parents of over 1500 kids to encourage participation.
Mike devoted countless hours to the growth of youth hockey and is an example to us all.
